Reflections from the UHUK Conference 2025
Innovation, Integration, Impact: Mission Driven Urgent Care
Hallam Medical was proud to once again be a VIP Sponsor at this year’s Urgent Health UK (UHUK) Conference, held on 14–15 October 2025 at the Staverton Park Hotel, Daventry.
The event brought together people across the social enterprise urgent and integrated care sector, with a shared mission: to explore how our collective work can help deliver on the Government’s 10-Year NHS Plan.
With themes of neighbourhood health, digital innovation, and integrated working, the conference shone a light on the power of mission-driven providers to meet national priorities while staying deeply connected to local community needs.
Day Two opened with an inspiring keynote from Karin Smyth MP, Minister of State for Health, who thanked delegates for their contributions to the NHS 10-Year Plan consultation. She highlighted the importance of three fundamental shifts to transform health and care:
- From sickness to prevention,
- From hospital to community, and
- From analogue to digital.
Focusing on the move from hospital to community, she underlined the value of neighbourhood health models and multidisciplinary working, calling for more care to be delivered at home and the creation of ‘virtual hospitals’ through remote monitoring.
Acknowledging that resources have long been weighted toward hospitals, she expressed optimism that this tide is turning, saying that meaningful reform will depend on empowering community services, local government, and the voluntary and Social Enterprise sectors to shape care around local needs.
As a VIP Sponsor, Hallam Medical was proud to contribute throughout the two days.
Chief Executive Deborah McCain, Chief Nurse Lisa Locker, Brand & Strategic Partners Lead Charlotte Tomlinson, Head of Business Development Gemma Smith and Business Development Manager Paul Page, attended. Our team connected with colleagues from across the country, sharing insights on how we support healthcare providers through our specialist workforce solutions.
Gemma Smith, Head of Business Development at Hallam Medical and Zahra Leggatt FCIPD, Director of People and Organisational Development at DHU Healthcare presented in a breakout session.
Their session, Delivering Workforce Innovation through Partnership, explored how the collaboration between DHU Healthcare and Hallam Medical has:
- Delivered measurable cost efficiencies
- Improved operational effectiveness
- Enhanced access to clinical support
- Strengthened quality assurance processes
- Increased overall workforce productivity
This partnership is a shining example of how flexible workforce models can be developed through collaborative working and supporting not only immediate service delivery but also long-term workforce sustainability.
We were equally honoured to serve as a VIP Awards Sponsor for the UHUK Awards Dinner, celebrating the incredible individuals and organisations shaping the future of urgent healthcare. Our CEO, Deborah McCain, presented the Workforce Award.
The UHUK Conference once again reminded us why collaboration, innovation, and community engagement are so essential to the health and care system’s success.
Thank you to UHUK for hosting another outstanding event, and to all our colleagues and partners who joined us for two days of learning, collaboration, and celebration.
