You can help fight against COVID-19
The information provided below is on behalf of YorkTest Laboratories who are developing a COVID-19 IgG antibody test.
In order for YorkTest to further their development and validate their test, YorkTest requires blood samples from individuals who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.
If you have been confirmed COVID-19 positive and are willing to help then YorkTest will send you a simple finger-prick blood collection kit with detailed instructions for use and consent form in the post. This would cost you nothing. They only need a tiny amount of blood.
The information required will include the date you were confirmed positive for COVID-19, the date of first symptoms (if any) and the date the sample was taken. The sample is to be taken at least 14 days after you had been around someone with the virus or after your symptoms started.
Please note that your sample will be used to ascertain the acceptability of the test to detect COVID-19 IgG antibodies. No formal results will be generated from your sample and no report delivered to you or anyone else. Your sample will be discarded after use and any data generated from it will be anonymised.
YorkTest have reached out to the Government and NHS England to provide any support they can as a company in the fight against this coronavirus.
If you are happy to help, please provide a name and postal address by email to katrina.seaton@yorktest.com and a blood collection kit will be posted to you. All samples will be anonymised from the point of entry at the YorkTest laboratory.
Thank you!
