Important Update – Covid Vaccination News
At Hallam Medical, we want to keep you in the picture and keep you up-to-date with where we are regarding the latest news coverage around the Government and NHS talks around the number of healthcare staff who remain unvaccinated.
The great news is the majority (nearly 90%) of all healthcare staff are reported* to have received their second Covid Vaccination.
The Government has announced a six week consultation to consider whether making the Covid Vaccinations compulsory for frontline healthcare staff.
It is now compulsory for all care workers (anyone working in a care-home environment) to be double vaccinated by 11th November 2021. This consultation will determine whether or not being fully vaccinated will be compulsory for all frontline healthcare workers.
How could this affect you?
Although this consultation is still taking place, we are already seeing a number of our NHS clients requesting that frontline staff (both permanent and agency) can provide evidence of receiving the double vaccine, for any work after the 11th November.
These clients have stated that if a clinician cannot provide evidence of receiving two vaccines, then this individual’s shifts must be cancelled after the November 11th 2021 date. This is not just for agency staff but also their permanent workforce. Permanent members of their staff have already received final notice letters from these NHS services
What to do next
If you have evidence of receiving the double vaccine, then there is no issue and you will continue to work as normal.
Please be aware that you may be required to show evidence of this before placement in some client’s services.
What to do if you are unvaccinated?
If you are concerned about not being able to evidence the double vaccination by 11th November – it is not too late to get both jabs in time. There is a recommended 8 week gap between 1st and 2nd doses, so if you haven’t had your first jab – please arrange to get it as soon as possible.
To enable you to receive the 2nd vaccine 8 weeks after the 1st jab, then you need to arrange the 1st jab no later than Wednesday 15th September 2021. This will enable you to receive the 2nd vaccine on Wednesday 10th November 2021.
What to do if you do not wish to receive the vaccine
If you decide not to receive the Covid Vaccine, whether this is due to personal choice or medical exemptions please talk to your Hallam Medical consultant on 0333 800 0395 as soon as possible.
Where does Hallam Medical stand on this?
As a business Hallam Medical cannot and would not enforce double vaccination on any of our clinicians or frontline workers. We are sending this email to keep you informed of the news as we receive it and feel it important to keep you up-to-date with all developments which could affect your ability to work.
As always if you would like to discuss this or anything else you can call our team anytime on 0333 800 0395
