Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – Paediatrics
Posted 01 July 2026 by LiamHallam Medical has locum opportunities for experienced Healthcare Assistants (HCA) with a background in paediatric care to support an Urgent Care Centre in Liverpool.
In this role you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients of all ages, with a particular focus on assessing and supporting children and young people presenting with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clinicians in the assessment and treatment of patients within the Urgent Care Centre.
- Provide safe and effective care to paediatric and adult patients.
- Perform clinical observations, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and oxygen saturations.
- Support with procedures such as ECGs, specimen collection, wound care, and basic first aid.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and child-friendly environment in line with infection prevention and safeguarding policies.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in an urgent care, emergency, or acute setting.
- Demonstrable experience caring for paediatric patients.
- Competency in taking and recording clinical observations.
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure..
