Specialist Autism Assessor
Posted 07 October 2026 by GemmaHallam Medical has an opportunity for a Specialist Autism Assessor to join a service in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated ADOS/ADIR and Combined Assessor to support this service in Sheffield. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality autism diagnostic assessments as part of a multidisciplinary pathway, in line with NICE guidance and national best practice.
Working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will undertake specialist Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) assessments, contribute to clinical formulation and diagnostic decision-making, and produce clear, high-quality clinical reports. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure individuals and their families receive timely, compassionate, and evidence-based support throughout the assessment process.
Client Essential Requirements
- Registered healthcare professional with current HCPC, NMC, GMC or equivalent professional registration, with a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification.
- Formal ADOS-2 training with demonstrated competence.
- Significant experience conducting ADOS-2, ADI-R and combined autism assessments, specifically with children, within an autism or neurodevelopmental diagnostic service.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway and contributing to clinical formulation and decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions, including current diagnostic criteria (DSM-5 and/or ICD-11) and relevant NICE guidance.
- Experience producing high-quality clinical assessment reports and communicating complex clinical information clearly to children, families and professionals.
- Excellent clinical assessment, analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
